Have you heard of mushroom coffee?
It’s the latest fad – and I finally got to try it with Neuroast.
While there are many companies that are creating new versions of mushroom coffee, I decided to try Neuroast first because they use a blend of 5 types of mushrooms (instead of just one or two) and still have 65 mg of caffeine per serving in their Classic roast (can’t take away my caffeine all at once!).
The Taste
It doesn’t actually taste like mushrooms! The classic roast is kind of like a cinnamon flavored cocoa flavor. I’ll admit that the first day I tried it, it took me by surprise and I wasn’t sure if I actually liked it.
I’m used to coffee flavored coffee – no sugar, and just a dash of milk or cream.
But by the third day, I was officially converted! I still add a bit of creamer and I started to actually crave the cinnamon taste!
What’s in the Coffee
I admit that mushrooms in your coffee sounds like a little bit weird. But it’s not just any mushrooms.
Each 2-tablespoon serving has:
- 315 mg Lion’s Mane – known for their brain-boosting benefits
- 305 mg Cordyceps – for energy, endurance and stamina
- 150 mg Chaga – for antioxidants, skin-health, and immune support.
- 150 mg Reishi
- 80 mg Turkey Tail – Immune-boosting, anti-inflammatory, memory-enhancing, and antioxidant-rich
All 100% organic.
They also sell just the mushroom extracts without the coffee – currently Lion’s Mane, Chaga and Cordyceps are sold separately. I can’t wait to try these to add to other beverages.
Other Neuroast Products
In addition to the Classic roast and the mushroom extracts discussed above, Neuroast also sells flavored coffee blends (Chocolate Hazelnut and Caramel Pecan Cluster!) with the same mushroom breakdown as the classic roast.
Coffee creamers are also available – though I have not tried these yet. They currently contain small amounts of dairy but are planning on switching to 100% vegan sometime down the line.
I also purchased an instant coffee version to take with me while I was traveling, in case I ever had a coffee emergency. I’ve never been a fan of instant coffee but wanted to try some of their brand.
Spoiler: I’m still not a fan of instant coffee. Can’t win ’em all!
Overall verdict: I actually did notice an energy increase after I started drinking this. The benefits continue to build as you drink it more consistently. I mostly have now switched to drinking Four Sigmatic coffee, which is the same concept! But you can find Neuroast on Amazon.
