Trial and Eater’s review of the ooey gooey granola butters from Oat Haus brand (formerly Kween)! “Eat Like Royalty” with their nut-free, gluten-free, top-14-allergen free + vegan spreads that are so delicious you’ll wish the jars were bigger.

These are also included in our favorite peanut butter alternatives list!

What is granola butter, you ask? It’s an allergen-free alternative to peanut butter made from oats that tastes like a spreadable granola.

Other ingredients include golden flax for fiber, healthier oils like coconut oil and olive oil, maple syrup and cinnamon.

They have their staple flavors which are original, vanilla and chocolate. Every so often they have limited release flavors like cookie dough granola butter, blueberry granola butter, and others!

Their “original” flavor is so far my favorite of the staple flavors, and some compare it to cookie butter. It is a perfect spread to eat on bread, over fruit, in smoothie bowls, or just by the spoonful. Basically anything you would put peanut butter on.

(Note these pictures were taken right before their rebrand, so they now have their name “Oat Haus” on the jars.)

You will need to stir quite a bit when you first open a jar, and even after fully mixing it will be quite thin.

If you don’t like the idea of extra-drippy spread, you can refrigerate it – and then it has a texture like actual cookie dough!

All the staple flavors so far (even the original) are pretty sweet tasting, but they only have 3 grams of sugar per serving (for the original flavor). Though keep in mind a “serving” is 2 tablespoons (similar to peanut butter again) and especially when it is at room temperature it’s easy to slather it on and eat more than that in one sitting!

I still can’t wait to try some more of their limited release flavors, but the original flavor of granola butter is now a staple in my pantry.

You can buy granola butter in select Whole Foods stores and on their website.

Which flavor of granola butter will you try first? Let me know what you think!
